Local Banker Speaks To Hart County FBLA

Hart County High School FBLA hosted a guest speaker, Mr. Heaton, a local  banker, on October 13. Mr. Heaton spoke to members about the process and importance of budgeting,  how to open a checking account, and the positives & negatives of credit cards. It was an interactive discussion; students learned some important financial information. Mr. Heaton shared stories to help increase interest as well as understanding. It was a good learning experience!

Hillgrove’s FBLA Participates in “The Homecoming Games”

Hillgrove High School’s FBLA participated in homecoming this year and they had a blast!  FBLA got 2nd place in the door competition and 1st place in the float competition.  Members worked hard to fuse the hunger games theme and to represent the Future Business Leaders of America district.  As a bridge activity, members partnered with Lovinggood Middle School chapter.  Good job to all FBLA members who participated and helped publicize FBLA to the Powder Springs community.

Washington Wilkes Middle School Participates in The Big Thank You!

Washington Wilkes Middle School FBLA would love your help with our current community service project!

Currently, WWMS FBLA is writing letters to service men and women that are serving overseas. We are participating in The Big Thank You with the Bert Show from an Atlanta radio station. Please have your family members, church groups, workplace, or other groups and clubs participate because we would love to send as many letters as possible. We have written letters for the past two years and have had great success here in our school, but we would love to expand this opportunity to the local community as well. Please see the website http://bigthankyou2015.com/ for more information about submissions. We will be accepting letters in the front office packaged to WWMS FBLA until October 22, 2015. Please see the guidelines below and thank you in advance for your help!

Each letter should be heartfelt, handwritten, original, and free of any political statements. The purpose of the letter is to express thanks to the military personnel currently deployed outside the United States. We reserve the right to eliminate those messages that are political in nature and do not reflect a positive message in the spirit of Thanksgiving.

  • All letters must be on 8.5” x 11” paper or smaller.
  • Do not use glue, tape, staples, cardboard, glitter or otherwise attach anything to the paper.
  • NO construction paper.
  • Decorate using crayons, markers, pens or pencils.
  • Use both sides if you like, but use one page per letter only.
  • Do not send greeting cards or photographs.
  • Feel free to include your mailing and email address.
  • Individual letters should not be sealed in envelopes.
  • Do not send anything except letters.
