Berrien Middle School FBLA Collects Tabs for Ronald McDonald Charities

Berrien Middle School Future Business Leaders of America chapter has been collecting pop top tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. The local FBLA chapter has adopted the tab collection as a year-long community service project. FBLA supports this project because it provides a terrific opportunity for children to get involved and make a genuine contribution to their community. Funds generated from the tab collections goes to the operating expenses of the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

The collection efforts are in support of a local student who was diagnosed with diabetes during the summer. He was confined to the hospital for several days and his family stayed in the Ronald McDonald House in Macon while he was in the hospital.

A total of 110 pounds of tabs has been collected and delivered to the Ronald McDonald House in Macon. Ronald McDonald Charities states that it takes 1,430 pull tabs to equal one pound.  The estimated number of tabs taken to the Ronald McDonald House in Macon would equal 157,300.  What is just a piece of aluminum to us becomes a valuable resource to families served by the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
