Bleckley County High School’s FBLA in conjunction with Bleckley County FCCLA, FFA, and HOSA celebrated survivors and those battling cancer throughout the week of September 26-30. Each day had a special focus dealing with cancer awareness and prevention. BCHS students had the opportunity to participate in an activity at lunch each day and we had informational announcements each day. At the Friday night game, we invited survivors and those battling cancer to join us on the field in a balloon release. Our activities were discussed on the radio as the entire stadium took part in the activity. We used this week to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society and Relay for Life. We were able to raise over $500 dollars for cancer research through donations, face painting and cake raffles at the game.
