Chapter of the Year Activity of the Month: January

Welcome to a brand-new year of 2018, I hope your winter break was magical and filled with memories, as we come back to school for second semester. Georgia FBLA is with full affect because of the start of competitive event season with the 2018 Region Leadership Conferences. Also, the start of the semester means that your local chapter needs to be focused on…………. Chapter of The Year. Last month I talked about how your local chapter can earn points by giving back the community. This month, I going to show you ways that your local chapter can earn points participation in state and national FBLA programs.

Lets’ go back to the chapter planning guide and look at the Chapter of the Year entry form and go to the FBLA Programs/Projects section. The first subsection is Participation in the Business Achievements Awards Recognition Program, you can receive a range of 1-15 points if each student completes a level in their BAAs. The next subsection is Participation in the Georgia FBLA State Project- The Choice is Yours!. 1 point will be awarded for each 10 points you do and you can receive 5 points for completing prior state projects. The next subsection Participation in National FBLA Program or Project, your chapter can receive 10 points for each national project you complete. Next, I am going to talk about Contribution to Georgia FBLA Conference Sponsorship Project, Contribution to Georgia FBLA Scholarships Fund, Contribution to Georgia FBLA Foundation subsection. Your local chapter can earn points by donating to the organization and its programs. The next subsection Participation in the Georgia FBLA Connecting Chapter Project, if your local chapter works with a middle level chapter on a project you can receive 10 points. The final subsection I will be talking about is Participation in the Community Service Awards Recognition Program. If any member completes a level in their CSAs, they can receive a range from 2-10 points for their chapter.

I hope that 2018 will be a year full of surprises, The deadline for Chapter of the Year is February 20th. So make sure that you are on top of everything. Next month, I will be discussing the section called Penalty Points. If you have any questions about Chapter of the Year, you can email the state adviser Monty Rhodes at monty@georgiafbla.org.
