I joined FBLA because I wanted to improve my leadership and public speaking skills. Anyone who knew me before I joined FBLA would tell you that I was an incredibly shy kid. I joined FBLA to help change this. I had seen how FBLA had increased other people’s public speaking and leadership skills and wanted to gain that knowledge and confidence myself. Joining FBLA has provided me with the tools and experience to expand my leadership and public speaking skills. I have learned so much through FBLA and would not be who I am today without this organization.

My favorite FBLA moment was when I was at the 2017 National Leadership Conference. I have always loved FBLA competitive events, so competing on the national level was almost unreal to me. While I was sitting at the awards program waiting for my event to be called, I was extremely nervous. When they finally called my name to go on stage I was very excited. As they were called each placement I was getting more and more nervous. Then, they finally called my name for first place and I could not believe it. I will never forget that moment.
