Sonoraville’s March for Babies benefits March of Dimes

The annual March of Dimes March for Babies event will be held on April 30 at BB&T Park in conjunction with BBQ Boogie and Blues Festivities. The March for Babies event is the March of Dimes’ biggest fundraiser every year.  The proceeds go to preventing premature births by educating mothers on the importance of carrying to full term and funding research for treatments for birth defects and consequences of premature births.

Debbie Cloer (this year’s chairperson) visited Sonoraville High School and educated students in business classes and members of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) on the March of Dimes organization, explaining its purpose and what students can do to help. Students played bingo to learn more and they received donation buckets to help with fundraising efforts.  The business students determined the goal to be $25 per student.  In the past, SHS FBLA  has raised more than $1,900 to help March of Dimes.  FBLA members and business students will also volunteer at the walk to support the cause. If you are interested in making a donation to the SHS Business Team/FBLA Team, please contact lisasmith@gcbe.org.
