State Representative Susan Holmes visited Jasper County Preschool recently to support Georgia Pre-K Week. Rep. Holmes is joining leaders all over the state of Georgia in celebrating the importance of early literacy in school success. Families and children attended Literacy Night, received free books from Ferst Foundation for Childhood Literacy, and attended a workshop on reading aloud to children. Children especially enjoyed a visit from the Cat In The Hat who came to remind families that Ferst Foundation will again sponsor a literacy festival the first Saturday in March, Seuss On The Loose. The date is March 4, 2017. Jasper County High School FBLA members took turns dressing as the “Cat in the Hat” and visiting with students. Local FBLA members serve as the Cat several times throughout the year for local Ferst Foundation activities.
