Bleckley County High School Future Business Leaders of America traveled to Athens, Georgia on November 13th to embark on leadership and learning opportunities. We are so thankful for the opportunity to be able to travel to these conferences to greater our growth as future leaders.
Upon arrival, we settled in for a few minutes before heading over to the University of Georgia campus fo a walking tour. It was a great experience to be able to enjoy the beauty of Athens, see Sanford Stadium and Dooley Field. We enjoyed perusing through the UGA bookstore and we ate lunch at the Tate Student Center followed by a quick Starbucks stop for those interested.
After our walking tour, we headed over to the Georgia GameDay center for some last minute study time as we would all be taking the Statesmen Test and Maisi, Olivia and Sophie would be taking the Battle of the Chapters exam. After some cram sessions and down time, students began to get ready for dinner at the Athens Diner and Opening Session at the Classic Center where Olivia and Maisi would serve as Region 5 Officers. We had a phenomenal guest speaker to kick off the conference. Afterwards, we headed over to the Convention side of the Classic Center for everyone to take their Statesmen test. Congratulations to Ashylnne, Olivia, Ms. Lane and Mrs. Barker on achieving the Statesmen Award.
On Thursday, students had the opportunity to experience many different workshops taught by Georgia State FBLA officers as well as community leaders dealing with making the most of every opportunity, stepping forward to lead, Making the Most of FBLA, State Officer Candidate Orientation and so much more. During the day students also had the opportunity to purchase tickets for the Scholarship Basket Drawings. All proceeds go to pay for FBLA scholarships given throughout the year. Raleigh and Sophie both won a basket full of goodies to bring home. Immediately following the Conference on Thursday, students readied for a trip home and we ate at Zaxby’s along the way.
We are so proud of our FBLA members and officers that attended the conference in Athens. Bleckley County students always represent our community with such high standards of behavior and poise.
