The Brookwood FBLA local officer team had a fun time at SLOTS 2017, where they learned more about their positions, participated in exhilarating games and activities, and networked with other local chapters. Perhaps one of the highlights of this event was winning a free Fall Motivational Rally Registration for our chapter through the social media challenge. Doing some of the icebreakers that the breakout leaders had planned was something our officers really enjoyed because they are fun ways to spark engagement, and we can take these exercises back to our local chapter meetings. The inspirational story told by former national officer Holland Gray about his experiences with perseverance inspired many of our officers to remain confident even in times where they are underestimated. One of our local chapter Presidents, Philena Yang enjoyed SLOTS because “It played a fundamental role in helping our officer team to bond and learn significant skills to achieve success in our chapter. It also allowed us a unique chance to meet other chapters from around our region and share what works and how to improve.” One of our Vice Presidents of Competition, D’nai Thomas also found SLOTS exciting because she “enjoyed the different games, especially the monopoly one, we were encouraged to meet members from other chapters.”
It was a great day of training and bonding with the new officer team. Our officers hope to take what they have learned at SLOTS this year and use it to elevate our chapter in the upcoming months!
