As December is around the corner, it is time to start thinking about what you’re going to get your loved ones for the holidays. But have you considered how you’re going to give back to the community? December is the month of giving, which is why this month’s service challenge is to create a donation drive for the community.
To complete December’s service challenge, your chapter must create a donation drive. Your chapter can decide whatever items you would like to collect, but continue reading for suggestions.
As it is progressively getting colder, ask your members to donate coats, gloves, and cozy hats. Please let your members know that the items must be new or gently used. You could also ask your members to donate any toiletries, such as toothpaste, deodorant, hairbrushes, and soap. All of these items can be donated to a local homeless shelter. To collect the items, place a dropoff box outside of your adviser’s classroom, or near the entrance of your school.
Don’t forget to take pictures as members are dropping items in the dropoff box, and when your chapter donates the items. The pictures your chapter captures can help your chapter earn Chapter of the Year points. To earn these points, post the pictures on your chapter’s social media accounts under the hashtag, #gafblaservicechallenge by January 1st. Additionally, tag @georgiafbla in the caption.
This service challenge is a great way to give back to the community during the month of giving.
