Douglas County District 3 Commissioner Mike Mulcare spoke to DCHS FBLA members about how local government works. He also shared about his career path and gave advice to students about starting now to network and ask adults in careers they are interested. He suggested talking to the adults they know, friends and family, about their jobs/careers and what was required to be successful in their career. Commissioner Mulcare talked about the process of equal representation based on population throughout the county. He explained that some districts are larger in size, but have about the same number of people represented and districts with a smaller geographic area. He talked about the process of collecting taxes and how the commission budgets those tax funds to take provide services for the citizens of Douglas County.
