Emanuel County Institute Holds New Member Induction

On Wednesday, September 14 the Emanuel County Institute Future Business Leaders of America held its annual new member and officer induction ceremony.  Mrs. Jessica Smith, Adviser, welcomed everyone to the ceremony and began to install the new officer team for the 2016-2017 school year.

The candle ceremony was an important part of the evening with each being lit by its prospective officer and the meaning of the candle and officer’s duties explained. Each new officer pledged to fulfill her duties and obligations to make ECI FLBA a great club.  The new officers are MacKayla O., President; Lexie C., Vice President; Abigail C., Junior Adviser; Rose B., Service Chairman; Regan J., Zera E., Treasurer; Kendra P, Reporter; Caroline K., Historian; and Ansley M., Parliamentarian.

The guest speaker of the night was Mrs. Alex Salmon. Mrs. Salmon graduated with honors from Swainsboro High School in 2011. While at SHS she was very active in her FBLA Chapter as well as at the state level.  Mrs. Salmon served her junior and senior years as a state officer.  Since graduation, she has received an Associate’s Degree from East Georgia State College, and plans to graduate next year with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Kennesaw State University.  Mrs. Salmon is employed with Nordson Corporation.  She resides in Statesboro with her husband and daughter. Mrs. Salmon told everyone how FBLA influenced her life during her years of high school and after. She really encouraged the officers and the members to get involved in FBLA.  After Mrs. Salmon’s speech, all of the new members were inducted. Refreshments were served.
