MHS FBLA Attends Fall Leadership Conference

Metter High School Future Business Leaders of America members recently attended the Georgia Fall Leadership Conference in Athens. Twelve members, including Georgia FBLA Region 4 Officer Tate West, and two advisers attended the two-day conference.

Shortly after arriving in Athens, the members completed a self-guided walking tour of the University of Georgia campus and Athens downtown area. Members saw the famous UGA Arch, rang the bell on campus (typically heard throughout Athens after a football win), visited Sanford Stadium, and toured the UGA Bookstore.

The Wednesday opening session of the conference began with the introduction of the State Executive Council and was followed by a recognition of various awards and chapters. Two of the Georgia FBLA State Officers, Alexandra Cochon and Will Pace, served as co-keynote speakers and delivered inspirational motivational speeches. After the opening session was over, members and advisers participated in the annual Georgia FBLA Statesmen Award testing. Additionally, the team of Aeden Ikner, Tate West, and Brooke Willis competed in the Battle of the Chapters team testing. On Thursday, members attended leadership workshops and participated in the Monopoly tournament that raises money for the March of Dimes. MHS members were accompanied by FBLA Advisers Brenda Deal and Shayla Donaldson.
