SPREADING CHRISTMAS CHEER WITH BMS FBLA and FCCLA

The Berrien Middle School Future Business Leaders of America Chapter (FBLA) is building their leadership skills this year by giving back to their community.  The local chapter chose to collect toys for the Toys for Tots program. They combined their efforts with the Berrien Middle School chapter of Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) as their community service project for December.

Both FBLA and FCCLA members and students in the associated connections classes at collected monetary donations for Toys for Tots. The chapters went shopping and purchased a variety of toys to donate to the Toys for Tots box placed at the school.

The FBLA chapter participates in many types of activities to foster leadership skills development. The chapter will also be performing in the school’s annual Christmas program. Members will be participating in a skit based on the television game show called “Hollywood Game Night.” The members and their adviser, Ann Morris, are script writers. The members will not only be showcasing their acting abilities but will also be singing in this year’s program. Jayden F and Taylor H will be singing “All I Want for Christmas is You” and Desaray H will be singing “Jingle Bell Rock.”

One of the goals of FBLA is to encourage members in the development of projects that contribute to the improvement of home, business, and community. The Toys for Tots project allowed our local chapter to give back to our community by bringing the joy of Christmas to those less fortunate.  Participating in the Christmas program helps the members meet the FBLA goal of strengthening the confidence of students in themselves and their work. Both of these goals are important to the development of our future business leaders.
