Speaking is a skill we can all improve on no matter how good you are already, so January’s classroom integration idea of the month is to practice impromptu speaking. Collect a list of topics for the students to talk about for an example “Coke vs. Pepsi”, “What is the coolest thing you have done” or “Share a childhood experience” and put them in a container like a hat or bowl. Then have students select a topic from the container and have them talk in from of the class about that topic. Give the student 1 minutes to prepare and 1 minute to speak. Afterwards allow the class to give friendly advice about the speaking mentioning both things the speaker did well and possible improvements.
