Welcome back to school! Most chapters are starting their first chapter meeting, so a good icebreaker is integral to helping everyone feel comfortable.
The purpose of the Speed Meeting Icebreaker is for people to feel they are in a safe environment by learning about those around them. Here’s how it works:
- Everyone will line up in two lines, with the two lines facing each other so everyone will have a partner (preferably someone they have never met or don’t know).
- Have interesting questions prepared beforehand for the pair to answer.
- Give them around 30 seconds to 1 minute for both people to answer the question.
- Have everyone on the right line move one space down, with the person at the end of the line coming down to the other end. The left line stays still. This way, everyone has a new partner now.
- Repeat for as long as necessary.
This is a fun way for members to get to know each other quickly and to create relationships as the activity goes on. In the end, everyone comes together to share what they have learned about their new friends!
