DCHS FBLA students Share their FBLA Story with Optimists

DCHSoptimistPresenters21Jan2016 Douglas County High School Future Business Leaders of America (FLBA) students presented to the Douglas County Optimist Club’s January 21st monthly meeting. This years’ Georgia FBLA theme is Share Your Story. Douglas County High students Amhad A, Ali A, Abby L, Tari C, and Micah H shared their FBLA story. The students shared the mission of FBLA and included their reasons for joining the Career Tech Student Organization (CTSO).
FBLA president, Amhad A, shared that he plans to pursue a career in the medical field and he knew that the business and professional skills gained through FBLA are an asset to students in whatever career choice they make. Senior Abby L joined as a freshman after her teacher asked her to join and her mother encouraged her to join because of the positive experience her mom had with FBLA. Abby shared about this year’s competition winners. Douglas County had 14 students win medals at the Region Leadership Conference with 8 students advancing to State level competition. Students compete in a wide variety of areas including skills, knowledge tests, and performance events.
All of the students included networking and community service as reasons they enjoy being a member of FBLA. Faculty advisor, Dr. Dianna Johnson, expressed her thanks to the Douglas County Optimist Club for allowing the students to share their story.
