Membership Recruitment Idea of the Month #2

So… maybe your membership just isn’t where it used to be? Or maybe your chapter is trying to raise membership to be the largest CTSO your school has to offer. Possibly you are trying to raise membership to earn more chapter of the year points. Whatever the reason is, you came to the right place.
HOST A MEMBERSHIP RUSH WEEK
To successfully have a FBLA Membership RUSH Week, there are many different tips I can give to you:
1. Not too early. Not too late. This means that you do not want to host it the first week or two of school because many of your members and chapter officers will be much too busy with other things to make time for RUSH Week. However, you do not want to host your RUSH Week too far into the school year either. The ideal time to host RUSH Week would be any week in September. September is the perfect month because the back-to-school mindset is gone and all other activities have started to die down.
2. Advertise. To successfully pull off RUSH Week, you most definitely need to advertise and get the word out to the school what your chapter is doing. Hang posters. If your school has morning announcements, put it on the announcements. Get your chapter officers and their friends to tweet the word out. Just make sure that your entire school is aware and hyped that FBLA RUSH Week is occurring.
3. Catchy slogans. Madness Monday. Tropical Tuesday. Wacky Wednesday. Thirsty Thursday. Frozen Friday. And…. Live up to the slogan’s name. For example, on Tropical Tuesday, offer students a tropical themed treat if they join FBLA. This could be a popsicle, Tropical Starbursts, a pack of gum, just anything tropical themed. Also, encourage students to dress up for the corresponding day. So, if it were Tropical Tuesday, have members dress in leis.
If you follow these three simple steps, your chapter’s FBLA Membership RUSH Week is sure to be a success. Be sure to check back next month to see other ways to grow your chapter.
