Metter HS FBLA Hosts Blood Drive

On August 26, 2022, our Metter High School’s FBLA chapter sponsored another blood drive. This blood drive was in conjunction with the Shepeard Community Blood Center. Two bloodmobiles were parked in front of Metter High School for this all-day event. At the end of the event, we had collected 41 units of blood from 57 donors.

Students and staff participated in this blood drive as long as they met requirements for age, height, and weight. Students had the ability to recruit a friend, community member, teacher, or family member to donate on their behalf. All students who donated or recruited received a “Free 100” card that could be redeemed in any high school class.

This selfless act of donating blood granted students with the “Free 100” cards. However, Shepeard Community Blood Center’s Red Cord program rewards students who have donated blood three times in one school year with a red cord to be worn at graduation. This is a great honor due to the time sacrificed in order to receive the cord. The Red Cords earned by MHS students will be presented at the annual CTAE Honors Night, which is held in the spring.
