Seminole County FBLA Chapter Busy During First Semester

Members of the Seminole County Middle/High School chapter of FBLA just completed their first semester of the school year. The year began for the officers attending Summer Leadership Officer Training Summit in July at Crisp County Middle School in Cordele. This training session prepare local chapter officers and other leaders for upcoming duties and roles. In addition, chapter officers worked with advisers to develop or refine the program of work and plan a chapter strategy for the year. Officers attending the training were (l-r) Membership Chair Melody B, Secretary Bianca T, Treasurer Punit K, President Taylor G, Vice President AnnaKate S, and Reporter/Historian Reshonda M.

Once the school year began, the chapter held monthly meetings on the third Thursday of each month. The program at the August meeting was to install the new officers. The Rally is held to provide a launching pad for a successful and active year for the local chapters. Seventeen members attended the Rally.

As a reward for joining FBLA and FCCLA by October, members were eligible to attend a tour of Valdosta State University and enjoy the rest of the day and evening at Wild Adventures’ Terror in the Wild. Thirty-one members of FBLA and FCCLA participated on October 29.

December was the month for thinking of others. FBLA and FCCLA joined to sponsor a Winter Need Drive from November 1 through December 15. Three truckloads of donations were delivered to Friendship United Methodist Church’s clothing closet and food bank to be distributed to needy local families.

The chapter currently has 55 members. The advisers for the chapter are Kim Orrick and Kathryn Trawick.
