Tattnall County High School March of Dimes Coin Wars

The March of Dimes is FBLA-PBL’s national service partner. For over 40 years, FBLA-PBL has consistently ranked as the top March of Dimes youth fundraising partner, raising over $15 million dollars and counting. From collecting coins to fund research, to educating peers about the mission of the March of Dimes, FBLA-PBL has been an instrumental March of Dimes partner.
Tattnall County High School’s FBLA raised over $650 during this school year. Students participated in fundraising during the month of November. First block classes competed against each other in MOD Coin Wars. Mrs. Jessica Helm’s first period was the winning class. They were treated to purple heart sugar cookies and red velvet cupcakes provided by FBLA. Many other students participated in the coin war. Bingo for Babies was also held at South Tattnall Middle School’s Literacy Night. The money raised will be donated to the Savannah chapter of March of Dimes.
Tattnall County students were exposed to the following facts about premature birth to encourage them to donate to this worthy cause.
•In the United States, almost half a million babies are born too soon each year — that’s 1 in 9. The premature birth rate in our country is higher than that in many other developed nations.
•Premature birth means a baby is born too early. Babies aren’t fully developed until at least 39 weeks of pregnancy. Important development of their brains, lungs and eyes occurs in the last few weeks of pregnancy.
The members and advisers of FBLA would like to thank everyone that participated in the fundraisers. We hope to add to this year’s donations with other fundraisers throughout the school year.
